Men Need Adventure

In an interview with radio show host, podcaster, and author Buck Sexton on Cool Heroes for Boys--20 True Tales of Adventure, the conversation quickly transitioned to manly adventure.
Sure, this was a Father's Day conversation, but as we spoke about running with the bulls in Pamplona, hunting Cape buffalo on Tanzania, being charged by elephants, scary crocodiles and more, it was clear we were exploring the always necessary Hero's Journey.
As men, we need adventure. We need things that continue to push us physically and psychologically.
As was fitting, after this interview, I spent the day competing in a karate tournament with the few other adults (in my category) who have decided to try something new that pushes them and requires them to learn--sometimes in physically painful ways.
Buck thought all of this to be so cool. He is, as comes across on his shows, wide open to adventure and to those trying to push themselves and their--and maybe our--limits.
