Sidney Sweeney is Trolling Beautiful Women

As a gentleman and father, I would be concerned if Sidney Sweeney were my daughter. I would not attempt to stop her from becoming America’s sex symbol. I would, rather, try to influence her to carry concealed—and she has posted videos of herself shooting before—and to otherwise make certain she is training to defend herself.

I would also look for ways to help her stay grounded. Looks, or the way men respond to very beautiful women, can clearly foster narcissistic superficiality in people—this is true for men and women. Such thin-skinned egotism is not inevitable however.

The thing is this latest TikTok backlash to Sweeney’s sexy sports-related ads says so much about feminism and American culture that it feels like Sweeney just might be trolling other beautiful women. Maybe she thinks they should lighten up.

Men, at least the heterosexuals, can enjoy looking at attractive women without a hint of judgmental hate in them. Lust sure, but not contempt. If the woman is smart and is interested, she can show a man as she goes just how smart and independent she is. That’s the age-old dance, but this backlash is something different.

Right now women are attacking Sweeney for showing off her sensational looks.

Incredibly, many female athletes appear more upset about Sweeney’s naked body than they are about men competing in their sports. Many of the annoyed women have posed nude themselves … but maybe they did not get as much attention?

This is almost beside the point, as this is about looks not money or necessarily status, but it should be noted that Sweeney is an entrepreneur who owns portions of the companies she is marketing. Isn’t she therefore an example of female empowerment?

In any case, looks will always be a part of the equation. This is true for men and women. If feminists think Sweeney overstepped some unspoken rule, then they must spell it out. Maybe this could lead to standards, discretion, self-control … or discussions of such things anyway.
