Scroll down in The Library section of this site and you'll find a list of 100 manly films every Heroic Gent should see. This, of course, is an eclectic list, as many men from different backgrounds and with different tastes contributed to this list. We'll talk about many more films--new and old--here, as this list is hardly static. Still, there are likely quite a few here you don't know. So explore.

We begin, as we should with the 1959 version of Ben-Hur, directed by William Wyler and starring Charlton Heston. The more modern version is grad B junk, and the earlier silent version is a cinematic masterpiece, but not many modern viewers will see it as anything by a art fil. The technicolor 1959 version, however, is moving, powerful, and the best revenge story ever told. As Juda Ben-Hur, Heston is what every man should be, a figure struggling to stand for justice, his people, and family who rises through faith to transcend obstacles in his path.
